2 plumbers, 1 macerator specialist - shower not draining!

Hello all.

We have a brand new shower (installed October '15) that has been working perfectly fine until the last month - it's stopped draining properly and overflows. I live in a third-floor apartment, with two other floors above. We have had 2 plumbers look at the drain, they attempted to plunge and said it was a macerator problem, so they wouldn't touch the pipes. We paid a stack of money to have a specialist look at the macerator, he said the reason why it wasn't draining was because the sensor wasn't sensitive enough. He made it more sensitive and said it was fixed. Didn't do a damn thing.

We have used a 2-meter drain snake, pulled out hair, debris, used shop bought drain cleaners, tried bi-carb and vinegar, nothing has touched the issue!

I'm concerned that it may be a vent issue, as our bathroom sink gurgles, but it doesn't seem to be affecting the toilet or kitchen sink. Also, no clue where the venting is in the apartment!!!

Thank you in advance

If you have a macerator, I would be inclined to blame that. Simple fact is, it will back up if it isn't pumping or pumping properly.

Is there a loo and sink connected to the same macerator? Are they pumping?

Because the shower is the lowest point on the drainage run, any problem with the macerator will back up the shower.

Macerators only exist for the purpose where you can't get easily to the large waste pipe outside the building. Do you understand how one works? I'd be very surprised if your kitchen is also on a pumped system. It shouldn't be affected.
