Her five-year-old iPad isn't up to the job any more, and she has a birthday coming up. Prices are likely to rise, and this might solve Xmas too! So...
32gb or 128gb?
Air or Pro?
I think the bigger capacity is worth it, but how much advantage does the Pro offer in real life? Either way, it would be the 9.7" screen, not the 12.9".
(Oh, and yes, the thread title does sound like a reasonable exchange!)

OP we used to be an "all Apple" family. Through the last year we've been ditching the overpriced phones and ipads and gone for android devices. Life is now so much easier, (and cheaper). Try it.
I recommend the Samsung Galaxy Tab or Google Pixel C. Check out the prices.Pants0 -

Go for the newest model and the biggest storage you can afford..that way it should last her a good few years. I have the Air2 64gb, which suits me but a friend just got the Pro and it's a lot quicker and the sound is awesome0

Yes, that was my thinking. The technology in the Pro is a generation ahead of the Air. If it lasts as long as her old one, she should be happy.
Of course, what I didn't think about was the accessories...0
