Hello
I'm needing to set up a Direct Debit account to pay my utility bills each month. As my disability payments are payed into the Post Office. Can anyone tell me if a Direct Debit account can be setup with the Post Office to pay my utility bills?
If so how do i go about doing this?
Thank you.

If your post office account is their standard account it is possible to set up a direct debit. You'd just provide your utility company with your bank account number and sort code either on a form that they provide you with or sometimes over the phone.0

If it is this account:

Then no, you cannot.
Further I would NOT recommend taking out a Post Office Current Account, run by Bank of Ireland.
Every bank has problems but BoI are simply incompetent. I ignored a poor reputation & took out an account anyway, soon regretted it & was a major hassle even when the Financial Ombudsman stepped in.
Added: Most high street banks offer services through the Post Office, so you could still run the majority of a current account through the PO.
