Rental - clarification re; hanging pictures

As you can tell, I've recently moved into a new flat.
I wanted to hang some pictures, and we bought some of those Command Strips so we (hopefully) wouldn't damage the paintwork. We haven't used them yet, because the landlord is supposedly re-painting, so there seemed to be no point until that was done. However, I just double checked the contract, and it says this;
8.14. Not to hang any posters, pictures or other items in the Property using blu-tac, sellotape, nails, adhesive, or their equivalents.
8.15. To hang posters, pictures or other items in the Property using a reasonable number of commercial picture hooks.
I just want to check I'm not misunderstanding this - I can use normal picture hooks (in fact, I have to?). Previous contracts have explicitly forbidden it, so I find it rather strange, unless I'm missing something?

The contract says you can use commercial picture hooks.but not blu-tac, sellotape, nails, adhesive, or their equivalents.
However in reality you can use anything you please. What matters is that when the tenancy ends and you leave there should be no damage. So if you use blutac etc, provided you repair anay damage such that the paint etc is as good as it was, you're fine.
(ripped wallpaper of course is harder to repair.....)

I suspect 0 would be a reasonable number, as would 1-2 per wall, so you don't HAVE to hang anything!
You've agreed in the contract to not use adhesives but only hooks. So, you can't argue damage by such adhesives is fair wear & tear or that it is reasonable for you to have hung things. However if you do contravene this, and make good / pay for any damage, there isn't much anyone can do about it.0 -
As long as you are not damaging the wall you are fine. That clause is really only for nails/hooks.
With those strips though, do some test cause some may strip the paint if it was done on the cheapEU expat working in London0 -

TBH when I was in rental accommodation I didn't bother hanging any pictures because it is just another thing that the LL can look at to see if it has caused damage.0
