new kitchen, Howdens?

Options
I need a new kitchen and I have seen mention on this site favourable things about Howdens.

How do I go about getting a kitchen from there, or getting a design done, and are they really that good?

Thanks

Yes but they will have no problem in coming out to your house to design if you already have a tradesman to install the kitchen.

I got a kitchen from them 3 years ago (got discount through a friend of a friend who's got an account there). He highly recommended them as the units are all built up for you - no flat pack here (or very little anyway)

No complaints at all with the kitchen or the "accessories" (hob, oven, fridge & dishwasher).

Highly recommended - the account holder lived in London and held the account there and it was delivered to my home in Manchester from London!!! Delivery on time, not much cost and all in order - fantastic.

Yes I have, my uncle owns a kitchen showroom, so he could place the order for me. I suppose I could have asked him, except he's exceptionally busy, and in Manchester (I'm near Coventry).

So do I just contact them for someone to come and do the design, or is it best to get my uncle to get a quote for a design I have done?

    Thanks

One of the things that steered me in Howdens direction (apart from wanting a particular kitchen in MFI that Howdens do a pretty similar one! Oh, and the price...), is the fact that everything is in stock. I ordered on Wednesday and it was delivered on Friday. If there is a problem, I just call them up and they send a replacement the following day......an MFI kitchen could take weeks.

I got MFI to do design and quote. Jigged stuff around a bit. MFI modified design to what I wanted. I handed design to Howdens (they came round to measure up), they quoted for what I wanted (less the odd thing that they didn't do in that range, like 900 wide draws etc). Price came out at £2.5k less than MFI.

Of course, am gutted now that I hear a sale is on at Howdens next month. In fact, am pretty peeeeed off, but saying that, looking at the discounts I was given off the stuff in the first place, I think I might be getting a good deal anyway.....
  • Hi

We are currently having a Howdens kitchen fitted and are very pleased with the quility so far. The one thing I would say (which has been said on these forums many times before I think) is that although howdens are good value for units, it is generally a better idea to source your appliances elsewhere since the Howdens range is far from extensive and the appliances they do have are generally quite pricey cmopared to what you might pay from an electrical retailer
