Hi, new to all of this. I'm a student and asked to buy a permit at my university (September 2015)but was not allowed to get one as I was living on campus and as I had no where to park in parked in the student permits section without a permit as there were many free spaces avaliable. I had been receiving tickets from ukpc and letters but had ignored them and they stopped sending letters about two months ago. Recently I received a claim form and a letter from scs law threading to go court for £1120! 7 tickets! Not sure on what to do. Will they take me to court? If anyone could help that would be great!

Will they take me to court? yes , because you are a serial offender and should have realised , after receiving the first ticket
you were informed by the UNI that you were not allowed to park , and a permit system was in force , you chose to ignore thisSave a Rachael

Please read the Sticky thread for NEWBIES then appeal each ticket separately using the BPA template in blue you will find there.
These no doubt will be rejected, but should it go to court it will look better if you show that you tried.
If any are still inside the appeal period then you can make a second stage appeal to beat at least some of them.
Don't park there again. The advice to ignore has not been given here since the law changed in 2012.I married my cousin. I had to...I don't have a sister. All my screwdrivers are cordless."You're Safety Is My Primary Concern Dear" - Laks0 -

the incident dates back to 2015 , the OP states ". I had been receiving tickets from ukpc and letters but had ignored them and they stopped sending letters about two months ago. " which would infer that they go back several , several mthsSave a Rachael

I spotted that, but you never know if the OP has "done it again" but not yet got a PCN.I married my cousin. I had to...I don't have a sister. All my screwdrivers are cordless."You're Safety Is My Primary Concern Dear" - Laks0 -
I think the wording on pepipoos home page sums up most peoples attitude to PPC on this forum
Important Notice
PePiPoo do not condone breaking the law. We simply believe that motorists have the right to be treated fairly, in accordance with normal legal principles and with respect for their rights, and that allegations of motoring offences, such as speeding, should not be treated simply as an administrative issue leading efficiently and inevitably to a conviction.
no sympathy for serial ticket gatherers ,,,,,,,,Save a Rachael

Hi not sure why your post was suddenly attacked by some others who should know better and certainly was unaware that private parking charges were suddenly deemed as 'breaking the law' by Pappa golf
The forum has assisted many people with multiple parking charges and court claims - eg check out lamilad's three current claims.
Not sure how recently you received the claim form - we need the date of the issue date on the claim form.
If this is not too late then you should:
Acknowledge service of the claim within 14 days of service of the claim by:
creating an account via the government gateway on MCOL
remember the ID number they provide as you will need this and the password later.
You will also need the password on the front page of the claim form and the claim number itself.
Select the option to acknowledge service of the claim
Tick the box stating you intend to defend the claim in full
Leave the defence box blank
This extends the time to submit the defence to 28 days from service

You have not yet got an actual claim? Just a letter and a 'copy' claim form from SCS law, not from Northampton Court?
If so you need to reply to the 'letter' (a letter before claim?). How to do that is shown under 'Small Claim?' in the NEWBIES thread, there is an example linked there, of a response to an LBC. You will also find others in the threads I am showing you below, before they got their court papers.
You MUST respond to this letter, to look more reasonable later at any hearing but do not say who parked (please EDIT your first post urgently to remove the 'too much information' there in case the PPC start sniffing around).
If you do not have an actual claim form yet, you should expect court papers because the sum being over four figures, makes it worth a punt for them, it is that simple.
DO NOT imply who was driving. Do not admit liability or talk about any excuses for what happened - it not about that. You can defend this as keeper, in various ways that have been tried & tested, honestly. The 'parking events' were not great but UKPC are worse and greedy firms like them do not deserve your money.
If and when you get your Claim form (because you will) it is not the end. Defend like these people have:

We warn people like you AGAINST responding to any pm from a poster with less than 1000 posts, offering to 'help' off forum. Don't go there, no need to discuss this by pm with anyone. Don't!
Stay on this thread and update us one you have read what to do to respond, starting with the NEWBIES thread section on small claims, so you understand what's what.
DO NOT think offering to pay less is an option. Do not hide your head in the sand. A defended case IS the way forward - you will see why from those links! This will be a life experience for you.
Even a case lost would be unlikely to be allowed with £60 randomly bolted on to each and every 'charge' as UKPC will have done at the moment, so a case lost would likely be for less than this letter demands.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

PM the OP, he's not been anywhere near the forum for a month now. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.
