Which cable do I want?

The usb ports on my desktop are at the back which is a pain when I'm using different memory sticks.
I know you can get extender cables but the male or female bit is confusing me.
Please can someone confirm what it is that I want? (Should be obvious but I have brain freeze.)

Cheat & get a hub. More memory sticks!

Or a male to female cable, but I only Think that's right.
[Seems I'm in good company, mind.]

Or finally, call the entire collection a pack of inconvenient whoojits & get a portable USB drive starting at 2TB (& watch appalled as it fills up in Weeks). You Still Have All the memory sticks (& associated raffle) but can back them all onto one block.

With my luck, GitDog will then chew/play/urinate over it but life is filled with opportunities that go sideways.
