How Much for Driveway Tarmac

I know this will depend on my location (Midlands) and some other factors. Anyway...
We have a driveway that is just stones. While perhaps more secure, it's horrible really and every other week, we're brushing the stones from the pavement back on to the driveway.
We're lookin at getting it tarmaced over. Our neighbour has just had his done and it does look quite smart, but it is new :P
Measurements are about 6m x 5m (ish). There is a bit down the side of the house which we could keep as stones I suppose (it'll help with drainage). But that's about 4m/5m x 2m/3m. If you do a thumbs up, that's pretty much the shape (so a d :P).
Any ideas of costs?
Any other things we should consider?
Would rather not paving as weeds will get through easier.

I'd ask my neighbour how much he paid or a number for the company he used so you could get a quote.0

I'm sure there's a guy passing who 'just has a bit left over from a local car park' who can do you a good deal!!0

Second...ask the neighbour!0

I think you need planning permission to lay tarmac as it is not permeable.0

Any other thoughts on driveways?
Even if you had brick paving - how much did it cost you?0 -
My preference would be paving, with a second choice being concrete.0

£50 per m2 all in. Central Scotland. That was from someone that had actually got it done, and someone else that had got a quote from a different firm.0 -

Just to bring this full circle; they wanted between £2000 and £3000.0
