Cheap Energy Club

I want to join the cheap energy club but my contract with British Gas dual fuel does not run out till 2nd December 2016.
Can I join and switch on that date, or do I have to switch now and pay the £60 exit fee?
I just need clarification if anyone can help.

    You are free to switch penalty free 49 days before the end of your contract so any time after 14th October - 2 weeks ago !

    You can join the CEC any time you like - there is no obligation to switch supplier when you join the CEC.

    molerate has provided the correct advice regarding the switching window to avoid any early exit fee, should you decide to switch supplier.
