Noisy Gtech Vacumn

We have had a Gtech cleaner since they first came out with no trouble at all, still on original battery. I was using it on the stairs the other day and didn't notice a small clear plastic toy on the stairs, the rollers on cleaner picked it up and it jammed immediately. I removed the toy, but now the hoover gives a tapping / knocking sound when in use.It still seems to work ok, but i would like to get this sorted. I part stripped the cleaner down, removing the rollers, i tried switching it on with the rollers removed, and the noise is still there. Looking online a fair few seem to have had problems with the drive shaft, mostly the plastic cogs stripping, which stop it working. I am not sure if this is the problem, as it all seems to be working fine. Gtech surprisingly dont sell this part, but i can get one from Amazon for about £20. It looks a real fiddle to replace it, before i decide to try and do it has anyone else got any suggestions on anything else which may be causing this noise.
Thanks

Hi
Purchased mine in 2012/2013, which had a 5 year warranty at that time, new ones i believe only have 2 years.
Used daily and has had most bits replaced now over the years, not sure if you registered when purchased but maybe a way to go?A shadowy flight into the dangerous world of a man who does not exist.

How did you resolve this, mine now requires the cog replaced.Don’t be a can’t, be a can.0

We also have the hand held. Husband was using it from new as I was ill for a long time. It's really carp at picking up, not very powerful at all. Is this normal. I wish he had told me at first it would have gone straight back. The big one is finemake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0
