    And whenever you are prompted for any update from AVAST , look very carefully for the FREE option, they always try make it the less obvious option. so as to push you towards the PAID option

    Thanks. I followed esuhl's advice back in early November and believe I selected file and web shield and probably email and deselected the rest but it seems I didn't get screen shot of that page).
