Sealing products to seal around a bath.

Options
With the plumbing in of a new bath, I intend to have Homelux wall matting (below) pasted over the new plasterboard, then tiles tiled over this.

Homelux also produce various before and after tiling seals (which is better before/after?) and seal accessories:

Could anyone suggest which additional products from the links above would be required for sealing around a standard shape rectangular bath located in the corner of a bathroom, with an overhead shower above the bath?

Thanks!

  • As I've already said I wouldn't do it this way & would have use hardibacker instead of plasterboard & this matting, but as you have decided on this method I wish you the best of luck & im sure Mr DIY will be along to tell you the best DIY product to seal it with
I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.

You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.

You've picked the superior product !!

It's make sure the bath is well fitted , feet supported on 25mm plywood or 4 by 2

Timber baton around edges on the underside lip

Seal the edge once tanked with a premium silicone then tile and apply another bead of premium silicone

Worked for us on the last 500plus bathrooms with no failures

I assume the 4 by 2 is in inches. I'd therefore opt for the 25mm thick plywood as I'd want to keep the bath as low as possible to ensure it's under a low window.

So a 25mm thick plywood sheet which is as wide and long as the bath so that it fits tightly to the two walls at the corner and to the two covered bath walls.

Should this be done even though the bath is constructed from steel?

So that would be a sanitary silicone?

Should the Homelux wall matting go down to just below the horizontal of the bath, or should it continue down the wall to the floor? It everything is properly sealed, then I suppose it shouldn't matter either way.
