Do ythey accept electronic transfers in that are sent by Faster Payments?
Can transfers out be sent by Faster Payments?
And if yes, do they use a 3rd party bank for this and if so what are the timescales?

I've never had an account with them, but on checking their website just now it looks like the answers to your questions are:

1. Yes.
2. Yes.
3. Yes, Barclays, and by the end of the next business day (providing you initiate the online request by 16:30).

I move money between Lloyds and Principality, both ways. Do it early enough and it goes through the same day.

I can confirm the answer to this question is "Yes" and can amplify this with what I was told by a PrincipalityBS telephone advisor last week: the payment must be sent before 15:30 and the account will be credited and the balance displayed on the on-line system by the end of Principality's working day at 18:30. It certainly worked for me! (Two payments from Santander to Principality Regular Saver accounts sent between 12:00 & 14:00 were both visible as credits by 16:00.)
