Tariff Ending Query

Hi,

My British Gas tariff is ending and I want to move to a Sainsbury's Energy tariff.

The current tariff ends on the 2nd December.

My question is, when do I start the switch?

I've heard somewhere that they dont charge an exit fee (even if you are in contract) when you switch from BGas to Sainsburys. Is that correct? Even if I do it via a switching site?

I'm worried that if I do it too early, I'll get charged an exit fee. And if I do it too late, I'll be on the standard tariff for a while and waste some money.

Many thanks
Dan

  • You can start a switch in the last 49 days of your fixed tariff without having to pay exit fees. Don't wait until the date to switch or even near to it, allow time for the new supplier to inform your old supplier so I would choose 21 days before as the cut off point.
