IHG offer to sell

I've held IHG shares for what must be over 10 years now, purchased through a SAYE scheme when I worked there. It's a relatively small amount - about £1k worth at current prices.
Today I've received a letter from Equiniti offering a buy more / sell / donate to charity service.
It's rather out of the blue - I can't remember ever receiving any such letter before and was pondering if there was some particular issue or event being speculated and if all shareholders were approached.

Equiniti used to do this periodically for BT shares. Perhaps they still do.

I think they do it to eliminate some of the smaller holdings so they don't have to deal with dividends and company report mailings. It may also be a useful service for those who don't know how to sell their shares.

I don't know what they charge, but there are probably cheaper ways to sell.
