Email from M&S Bank asking me to call to discuss my application

I applied for an M&S Bank current account a few days ago. I then received an email the day after I applied requesting me to call them to "discuss my application in further detail". The email has unsettled me slightly and I am not sure if I want to proceed with the application. I've opened accounts with several other banks recently and had no issues - never been asked for ID nor been asked to phone them. Has anyone had a similar email after applying to M&S? Should I take it as a sign that I'm unlikely to be offered an account by them? Here is the email I received below.
Thank you for applying for one of our M&S current accounts.

Please call us on 0800 756 7777, so that we can discuss your application in further detail. It's important that we speak with you, so that we can process your application and welcome you to M&S Bank. We’re available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Please do not reply to this email address as it is not monitored for incoming emails.

If you were honest on the application you don't really have anything to worry about. It could be something very straightforward.

  • My husband had this email when he applied last January and all they wanted was to double check/confirm details.

same for me, just wanted to confirm tax status as one of the drop down boxes showed i lived in more than one country for tax purposes, I don't, so told them that, gave NI number and account was opened a few days later.

My husband and I opened two sole and one joint account in branch at TSB and were asked for documents, but not with Nationwide or Tesco.

I also had a similar e-mail when I applied for an M&S a/c much earlier in the year.
It was something quite straightforward- can't remember what- so an insignificant little hitch!

Why has it unsettled you ?

Just because you haven't had issues in the past it doesn't mean you wont get any issues. Each bank has its own criteria, if you fulfill the criteria you get the account, if you dont quite meet the criteria they want to speak to you.
