Fitting a new window - DIY

I'm in the process of clearing out our detached double garage and want to make it a bit more organised in there. As well as cleaning out, painting the walls and putting new lights in I'd like to get the two windows in there replaced as they we currently just old metal frames with single sheets of (broken) glass.

The windows are approximately 1400x900mm and I don't need anything fancy - no fancy glass, no openers, just double glazed upvc windows. There is an existing concrete and tiled cill on the outside.

I've already had one supply and fit quote of £750. I can get the windows myself online for about £100 each.

Given this is just for the garage I'm tempted to have a go at fitting these myself. It doesn't seem too difficult - is this a relatively easy job for a competent DIYer? Saving £400 on labour seems well worth it to me. Any tips or advice?

The garage is just single skin construction, not sure if that makes much difference. Here's what the cill looks like, I assume I'd need to order the frames without a cill?

    Yes dead easy......
The most difficult part is removing the double glazed panels & re fitting them.
    Two tips......
Double or triple check your measurements.
Get toughened or safety glass its harder to break when fitting / removing the panels !!
Some good 'how to' videos on youtube.

You will need to fit a UPVC outer sill otherwise the drain holes from the windo frame will just drip into the brickwork

Won't they just drain on to the tiled cill? Would a stub cill be what I need?

Easy peasy DIY job. Not strictly necessary to have a PVC cill, but no reason not to, if you want
    Mine have a tiled cill.
Don't try to get them made for a very close fit. It is much easier to have them about 10mm smaller than the opening. The resulting gap on each side can be sealed with silicone mastic.
