Money Options in South Korea

Hello All,
I'm wondering if you could give a travel newbie some un-complicated advice?
I am planning to move to South Korea for 12 months early next year.
I've never had a credit card before but i've been told it will be cheaper to take on holiday. As I am not going on holiday but living in a new country I am not sure if this the best option for me?
Whilst living abroad, I would still have to pay for my car (that's on finance)and maybe my phone bill so I am not sure how that would work as I currently have a normal bank card.
I've been told that Revolut maybe be useful. Has anybody used this? As it's primarily app based, is this just hype?
Any advice would be useful - thank you

That was me telling you - no it's not hype, it does what it says, very useful and versatile. As well as using the card for purchases and withdrawals, you can transfer funds converted at interbank rate with no fees to a Korean account if you decide to open one. I've been using Revolut worldwide since they began mid-2016, along with many others.Travel_newbie wrote: »I've been told that Revolut maybe be useful. Has anybody used this? But don't rely on a single source of funds. Your bank card can be a backup, but it probably involves fees so if you can get one of the recommended travel credit cards and learn how to use it, that would be better.Evolution, not revolution0
