Money Options in South Korea

Hello All,
I'm wondering if you could give a travel newbie some un-complicated advice?
I am planning to move to South Korea for 12 months early next year.
I've never had a credit card before but i've been told it will be cheaper to take on holiday. As I am not going on holiday but living in a new country I am not sure if this the best option for me?
Whilst living abroad, I would still have to pay for my car (that's on finance)and maybe my phone bill so I am not sure how that would work as I currently have a normal bank card.
I've been told that Revolut maybe be useful. Has anybody used this? As it's primarily app based, is this just hype?
Any advice would be useful - thank you

But don't rely on a single source of funds. Your bank card can be a backup, but it probably involves fees so if you can get one of the recommended travel credit cards and learn how to use it, that would be better.Evolution, not revolution0
