JackRussell, you may want to reword your post so it isn't misleading - someone using your referral code will NOT get that extra 1%. Only the person sharing the referral code gets the 1% bonus. I contacted their support to check.
If you want to share referral codes, I'd recommend you use the forum for that - I made a thread at forums (dot) moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.php?t=55867090 -

I have plum savings and I'm really happy with it so far0

This Chip App looks very interesting. Thank you so much for the post.
I decided to sign up just now. I will report back on my experience on using the Chip AppThank you in advance for those that use my Code.0 -
I actually use both.
Both were quick and easy to set up, main difference being Chip is an app you have to download, Plum is done through Facebook messenger (but you can view extra details on a website it links to you).
Plum seems to be more regular at making savings, but with Chip you get interest and an extra 1% for a year for every friend you introduce. Mine is currently 6%, far higher than any of my savings accounts! Also the referred gets an extra 1%, so if anyone would like the code, I'd be more than happy to share
I've resolved to let Plum save £100, then withdraw and deposit it into Chip.0 -
Has anyone had any experience of these business? I am a bit worried about giving my bank details to them.
Thanks0 -
So my experience to date has been very good so far,
I posted above in February and have been using the App now for a month.
I have had no issues with the App automatically saving cash for me. The App always saves the right amount, in that my bank account has not gone in to overdraft.
Its simple and easy to use.0 -
I've been using Chip for a few weeks now. Found a deal for an instant 5% interest so didn't have to refer anyone.
I have started moving money over manually. They only thing I'm starting to get worried about is how protected my money really is.
I notice MSE has now posted about both Plum and Chip on the site and on their Facebook page so could this be taken as them being pretty safe?0 -
I picked plum because you don't need an app clogging up my phone you can always log in on the website it's simple and I think it's good for people who aren't great at organising it takes the hard part out of it.0

Do people seriously hand over their security details for their bank / savings accounts to bots? It sounds like bargepole territory to me and I wouldn't be so naive.0
