Sorry how can you have your binned tickets checked ?
If you believe you have won, but no longer have the ticket, there is a process to claim the winnings.

It involves you knowing information about the winning ticket (e.g. where and when it was bought) and also relies on no-one else attempting to claim for the same ticket.

But there is no obligation for them to pay out without the actual ticket.

"But there is no obligation for them to pay out without the actual ticket"

I rest my case, I didn't lose or discard a ticket for any othr reason than Lotto, through their "App", assured me that it was a loser ?

I bought several tickets and I know where I bought them but without the ticket, as you say, they're unlikely to pay out ...

    I've been Money Tipped!
For the past few months I've used this app on my Android device. You trust the App because it's an official app from the National Lottery. OK, the chances that I threw away a winning ticket are highly unlikely but that's not the point. I won't trust it again.

OK not theft unless you have lost a 5K win because you believed the app and threw away a ticket and Lotto kept the money ... let's face it they must have got their massive profits from somewhere ... the boss says "innovation" - this incident is certainly innovative:

After tax, the operator made a profit of some £71million in the accounting year. Millions of pounds had been paid to Camelot’s parent company, Canada’s Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan, rather than being handed on to good causes.

Andy Duncan pledged that the Lottery’s success was all down to “how effective you are in terms of innovation”.

But critics said such “innovation” to increase profits had simply involved doubling prices and lowering the chances of winning."

They should be publicising this screw-up more ... posters in all outlets, let's face it they spend fortunes on POS in shops, a few posters shouldn't break the bank. The profits don't even stay in the UK ...

As I said "OK not theft" ...

The code scanner on the iphone app was broken and many people - including me - threw away tickets that might have been winning ones.

You definitely threw a winning ticket away as such you should sue Apple and the app developer for at least £100 million as you obviously threw away the recent said jackpot.

Don't worry Apple has 100's of billions in the bank and will pay up to avoid all the bad publicity.

What will you spend your £100 million on??

The word unless negates the previous statement. Context is everything. ;)

Mr_Singleton, I'm going to spend it on buying out the current Lotto major investors so I can make all the money ... and DoaM ... too cerebral for me ....
