Ecotricity

I'm thinking of switching from British Gas standard tariff (estimated usage 5000 kWh per year) to Ecotricity.

Any advice?

Many thanks,
Laurence

  • ^ Sorry, should have said: I have electricity only. Gas not available in my area (village in west Wales); no central heating, occasional use of storage heaters.

I'd have to ask why? There must be better deals around. Have you really worked it out.

I'm all electric and use around 7000kwh a year. Going with Ecotricity would increase my leccy bill by £400, that's more than 50%. Even British Gas's standard tariff is only £200 a year more - there's loads of better tariffs about.

There's always Bulb - another eco-friendly supplier as they use renewables. They could be cheaper.

I've checked with Bulb and it's only £50 a year more for my 7000kwh so not a bad deal. You have to wonder how firms like Ecotricity stay in busuiness

That's much better. I guess responsibly sourced energy still has a relatively niche market and I think Ecotricity have been the only supplier in this area for quite some time.

Good luck with your new supplier.
