new poster i would like to know if it worth investing in VCTs if you pay only a little income tax ? i have 100k & i understand the risk. i am not after other suggestions but do want to know if VCT structure & the returns make it worthwhile without the income tax relief. or is that where the main gains is ? what gains and benefits without tax relief ?

I looked at VCT briefly.
Having realised that in my situation the tax relief benefits are largely redundant I decided to forget about it.
Tax breaks aside, there are far less risky, more flexible and liquid investments - with at the very least, equally enticing prospects, in mainstream markets imho.'We don't need to be smarter than the rest; we need to be more disciplined than the rest.' - WB0 -
Vct are fine once you have expended other options, including maximising pension options and isas for most people, and you can benefit from the flat rate tax relief on offer.
They are higher risk but most funds ae moderately diversified.
If you don't have the ability to benefit from the tax relief they aren't attractive.0 -
