if you are clearing credit card debt the best is a balance transfer card. But be carefull to choose a different lender because you cant balance transfer between cards with the same bank. From personal experience, Barclaycard allows balance transfers from other people's cards (at least they dont ask the name). But other banks dont, so you need to do some research.
About loans and overdrafts, you cant just simply use your new credit card to pay it off. Thats not how it works. In this case, you should try a money transfer card, where you get the money transferred into your bank account and you can do whatever you're pleased with it.
As others say, purchase cards with special 0% deals will be of no use to you, as their unique advantage is that you can buy goods in shops and pay no interest for a certain period. Although, dont make the mistake to think that you dont need to make payments at all during the promotional period. You still need to make at least minimum payments every month.
I know you say you are not interested in morals, but never forget this debt will now be yours, whatever happens in your relationship, this debt is all yours. Having said that, i have done exactly the same in the past and it made our lives easier. Good luck.
