Hi,
I did the virgin money eligibility check on their own website and it suggested that I have a very high chance of getting approved and invited me to continue my application, This was done on Sunday evening and today I got an email that I've been rejected!
I know if I ask them they're going to say please refer to Experian.... and my credit rating is excellent
To be honest I don't mind not getting the card however Is it worth to follow up with them and ask for reasons because their own eligibility check suggested that it;s highly possible for me to get the card?
Thanks

Hi,
In my experience, Virgin Money were a hassle to deal with from start to finish. I didn't keep the card for very long, simply because they were an absolute nightmare. The eligibility indicator gave me the same feedback that you got, but when I applied, suddenly they needed more information about various things. I'm not sure what it is with this company, or if anybody else has had a bad experience, but I would advise to steer well clear.
With regard to your post, are you looking for a 0% purchases & balance transfer card? If you are, I would probably recommend Yorkshire/Clydesdale, their offer is reasonable and I've never had a problem with them.0 -
Yea I was looking for the money transfer offer, however I wanted the money quickly and I found another even cheaper solution for the money I needed,
It doesn't matter any more, but their eligibility check and how long it took for them to just reject me is ridiculous0 -

Great, pleased you've managed to find a solution!0 -

Oh I'd simply die of shame! Virgin cards are one of the easiest to get, practically handed out with every happy meal.
So just to recap, eligibility checkers have huge flaws, as you've found out.0 -
I found Virgin no problem to deal with. Applied, accepted, money transferred, and no interest for 38 months. £6,600 limit. All in 2 weeks.
Maybe I was lucky.0 -
Maybe I was rejected because when they asked me how much you want to transfer in the form I said £8000.0

My Tesco card is coming to the end of it's interest fee period, so Thursday night I applied for the Halifax BT card. They approved the application, but with a 13 month period and a £200 credit limit! (I've banked with Halifax for over 30 years).
I immediately applied for the Virgin card, and was accepted with £4600 credit limit and 2 years interest free balance transfer.
So yes, the process does seem quite random. Although when I phoned Halifax yesterday to cancel their card, they explained the low credit limit was because I already had a card with them with a limit of £9800, and they offered to reallocate the limit between the two cards. I'll stick with Virgin.0 -
Halifax eligibility checker gave me a 2/10 chance of being accepted. I've banked with Halifax for 6 months and they've advertised their credit card on my online banking page. I applied and was asked what limit I would find useful. I said £8k and was instantly accepted with 41 months 0%. So the eligibility checkers are hugely flawed.
In regards to Virgin cards I've had a vast array of cards with limits of £5k-£15k but never been accepted for Virgin card. Guess they just don't like me0 -
I have a virgin card that they took on when they took over some of MBNA's business. Dream to deal with. Offers every month and a v large limit.0

My other half has Virgin Atlantic credit card which is still running by MBNA.
Any idea if this will be transferred to Virgin?0
