Printing off the internet - help for an old fogey, please!

I must be doing something wrong.

Every time I want to print a page (PDF?) from the internet, such as an airline ticket or a receipt someone's sent me on my email, I come unstuck.

I click on successive 'print' buttons... and then finally up comes a window which insists I save the page to my documents. I have to give the thing a name so that, when I go a-hunting in the docs I can actually identify it amongst the other things and then, yes, I can print it from there.

This is truly annoying. Why won't it print earlier in the process?

You may have "Save to onenote" set as your default printer ..

When you click print, and get the print dialogue box open, make sure your printer is selected as the target device

If the above instructions don't work, when asked to save document save to 'desktop'. and give a suitable name.

At least, the document will be easy to find, and eventually delete.

You've set your default printer to save the document as a file. Your computer is doing exactly what you asked it to.

Do what @AndyPix has said for each document you print.

Or if you want to set the default printer to an actual printer the exact steps depend on what version of Windows you use, but generally speaking go to the Control Panel or Settings look for Printers, right click on the actual printer and choose Set As Default.

You mention PDF, so I wonder if you're seeing a dialogue 'print to PDF' (which is common, it saves a copy as a PDF as a backup of the web page), where you could choose a different (ie your actual) printer in one of the boxes.

No, my actual printer is set as the default and has been for a long time.

The thing still happens. Anything I want to print off the internet has to be saved to documents as a file with a given name. Intensely annoying.

Printing to PDF is usually something I recommend because more often than not a webpage will print out 20 pages and use up your ink, using PDF creator as a default printer saves tonnes of ink.

However, for your problem, have you checked to see if there is a phone app for that airline?

I used some when travelling, was able to check in by running my phone past the machine, no paper, no issues, all went smooth, i was even able to change seat and get an updated one.
Thanks, don't you just hate people with sigs !
