Virgin Media pay one year's line rental up front

Last year I took up the Virgin Media offer to prepay my phone line rental for a year for a discount of about 15%. Now they have made the same offer. I'm wondering why they are offering this though. Is there a catch?

A lot of providers offer this (except Sky).

The draw back is that you will never get it refunded.

And when VM put their BB prices up you have lost some haggling rights as they know you are unlikely to leave as you won't get the LR refunded.

Having said that, I think your renewal time is quite good.
So if your happy to stay with them for another year, pay it.

Same reason as all ISPs make similar line rental offers .
Pay in advance and save .
Catch is if you decide to leave you have lost the balance of the advanced line rental .

Most providers have the offer as a regular renewable, but Sky stopped theirs two years ago and TalkTalk ended theirs recently.

If your going to renew it for this year, your best to do it up to the 31st Oct.

Up to 31st October its £184 for the year

From the 1st November its £208 for the year

Here's the catch. They phone you back on a Sunday morning at 9am asking you to answer their automatic survey about how well the employee handled your call. Completely over the top but I suppose it's worth it for the savings.
