I've been Money Tipped! Debt-free and Proud!
I totally hate it too! I moved into my current house about 4 months ago ad the previous tenants had left it in an awful state. So i had to gloss the whole place.

I actually researched the best gloss and found that Satinwood was the best to use for skirting. It made the job 10x easier!

Satinwood gloss? Isn't that an oxymoron?

Me too. I'm sitting here looking at my freshly painted walls... and grimy off white skirting.

I use water based satin - not as nice a finish but I can live with it.

Satinwood all the way. It's just great.

The trick to it is: Never do it.

I hate ALL decorating + even if I try I'm rubbish at it.
  • Water based eggshell throughout our house. I hate gloss. The only woodwork with more than a hint of sheen in our house is the satin exterior stain on our outside woodwork.

I did all of our woodwork with brilliant white gloss about six months ago. Have just redone them all with water based satinwood. Unbelievable how much the gloss had discoloured in such a short time. I will never use gloss ever again.

(he points to some plastic cows on the table) are very small; those (pointing at some cows out of the window) are far away...
