It sounds as if you’ve had a productive weekend.I’m with your logic re the Premium Bonds. My mil estate had a very near miss re a scammer and she been with the same financial advisor for years and years. I just don’t trust a lot of the financial advice. There’s little interest anywhere atm and there’s a chance of a win with the PB but most of all It’s SAFE…..we’ll as safe as anything can be…..and should we need the cash it’s accessible…..so it’s a combo of PBS and ISAs for me.January spends - £587.584

I would have suggested getting the tram* into town when you're in the big city but, of course, it's not ready yet.

Haha GAP - VERY controversial! It still feels odd to see them running up and down Princes Street after all the hoo-ha when they were being planned and built!Milann I remember reading about that in your diary - and yes, there is definitely an element of safety in it. I also like the possibility of maybe getting a win too - it’s good to have something like that as a “could happen” I think! If interest rates increase to a level where savings accounts become decent earners again then we may rethink.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Have to admit I'm an anti-tram-er. I won't start. Hope you have a great time though and I'm sure you will as it's a fun city. I know you've been before (think I read that previously) so I'm sure you know that already.

@EssexHebridean The dog and I stayed at the Leith Holiday Inn Express a few years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. Really well situated, good breakfasts and handy for lots of great pubs and restaurants. If you have a spare hour or two, a tour of the Royal Yacht is an eye-opener.

GAP - I can honestly see both sides of the debate. Regardless though, the length of time it took to get the infrastructure in place was ludicrous!
SH it won't be, by the time everything else is taken into account, but I'd sooner save on accommodation and free extra up for the fun stuff!
Scottiedog - great to hear that from someone who's actually stayed there - I must admit the location was a winner for me! We've been to a couple of pubs in Leith before so knew there were some good ones about there. As for Britannia - breathtaking isn't it - I could well understand why the Queen was so upset when she was decommissioned. (That's the RY being decommissioned, not the Queen, hopefully she has a few more years in her yet!)
Well here we are at the start of another week, and a cold start it is down here too - it was just 2 degrees when we left home this morning, and my fingers were chilly on the bike in spite of my gloves. I think the front room heater will be being turned up a little this evening as it looks like temperatures this week are generally going to be quite a bit lower.
Today's Update:
Prolific: £16.83 paid/£1.77 pending
OnePoll: 640
NSD's: 13/18 - just thursday to add as there were spends Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Electricity overnight: Forgot to check this morning
We've decided that the dehumidifier needs to be on overnight on a daily basis for a while at least - humidity levels hit 75% at one stage over the weekend indoors and that's a problem. It does do such a good job though - it was down at 52% this morning so it's worth it's (relatively low if on overnight) cost. MrEH will probably stick it in the bedroom for a few hours in the mornings tomorrow and Thursday as well.it will be back in the kitchen tonight as the WM will be on.
Plans for this week - not much until the weekend. I do want to get to the gym twice - planning tomorrow evening and Friday morning. Then next weekend we have our annual (although not last year of course) visit to Birmingham, mainly for the Good Food Show, but also to catch up with some pals who live up that way too. I am a little hesitant over the Food Show this year - the exhibitor list is currently a lot shorter than previous and many of our "regulars" to buy from aren't on there currently - we'll see though. If this year IS less good value than previous we may think about missing next year and seeing how it is again a year later, but we'll play that by ear.
I've got our meals all planned out through until Friday evening so food-wise things should run pretty smoothly I think. Ideally I'd love to get the five days this week as NSD's - which would let me hit my target of 18 - but I suspect that won't be practical as I reckon MrEH's car will need diesel at some point later in the week.
Oh - and NEWS! I have just checked the banking and our £130 Switch incentive from Sant-And-Er has just landed - yay! That is going.....hmmmm....somewhere - I need to discuss with MrEH as we have discussed various options including paying against the 0% card, transferring to Marcus, and buying some more PB's....decision time!

Yay for the switch incentive!
Interesting about the dehumidifier. Mr Cheery often had one on before I met him in our old house loving room, but once I got into the habit of opening the curtains every day we didn't need it 🙄 The current house those has a few rooms which always feel damp- my study being one of them - piles of paper always feel a bit floppy in there 🙄 We've been using the new dehumidifier in the kitchen to dry the plaster, and in the bedroom for a few hours before bed, which has made it feel more pleasant in there, but I think once we've moved into the new bedroom (which is bigger and also will have less stuff in) I'll get it settled up in the study regularly. Never really occurred to me to use them regularly before.4 -
We find that during the summer we almost don't need it at all, but once we're into Autumn and winter it really does need to be on fairly regularly - it's the same every year at this stage. We'll run it almost daily for a few weeks, then it will step down to a few times a week trying to make sure it goes in every room in turn. I can't have it on anywhere near the bedroom to close to going to sleep though as it's so effective it leaves me feeling very dry in the mouth overnight. It got itself to pretty much half full yesterday so clearly was finding plenty to do!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

I can't imagine having to use a humidifier every day. Presumably you live in a beautiful old house to compensate?Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030
