The idea was probably better than the reality in fairness SH! 😂 MrEH refers to it as the “pizza-cake incident”!
The wrong bulbs have been returned to A’s - should be a £12 credit hitting the CC shortly. Once that lands I’ll transfer over the balance of that bill from the household account and my account, he just need to remember when the money shuffle happens next month that it’s been covered already.£8-odd spent in Wilko on tealights, bird food, Aspirin and treats for my parents dog for Christmas. 12k steps done plodding to town and back. 😇🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Well it’s felt like a pretty productive weekend really. I got our hotel booked last night for our friend’s 50th birthday weekend in Edinburgh early next year - Holiday Inn Express at Leith Waterfront so walkable into the city and also great bus links. Possibility of free parking but worst case is £5 a day. Just under £100 for the two of us for two nights, breakfast included - we’ll take that! This afternoon has been tidying the garage, getting some garden bits done, putting the majority of the balcony decking tiles away for the winter, topping up screenwash in both cars, MrEH has sorted his number plate lights and they are now working, and I’ve just ordered the replacement display cabinet LED bulbs from Argos to collect tomorrow. Slightly more expensive per pack than the Asda ones but we’re only ordering 2 packs not 4 as we’re using the halogen bulbs we have. We’ve also managed to get rid of a few bits and pieces - all part of the plan. Two old heavy glass jars that MrEH used to use for coffee have been set aside for the charity shop - he grinds beans as he needs them now so no storage needed. Also an old road atlas - very old, 2006! - and some other oddments that were previously in one or other car have gone to the bin. An old first aid kit has been brought indoors to sort through - we want to keep a lot of the contents but not in the size of box they’re in. It was one I got free a couple of jobs ago as it had “expired” and was being thrown out - but sterile dressings etc should still be fine. We’re now watching yesterday’s Wales -v- Australia rugby (Australia seem to be trying incredibly hard to lose, right now) while the bread machine does it’s thing with dough for rolls, then we’ll set it going again with pizza dough ready for tea. Lunch was the other half of last week’s beef stew, as planned - very delicious. Bolognese sauce is out and defrosting ready for “easy meal Monday” tomorrow. The veg box arrived as planned overnight and is a really nice selection including plenty of salad leaves which will get eaten on Tuesday. I need to find a use for beetroot, and no fewer than 6 avocados - all of which are currently rock hard! 😂
There will be a few more odd jobs to be done during the next few hours too - mostly just little tidying up odds and ends in the name of making the place calmer and more ordered to live in - it’s definitely getting there. 😁🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Good work! Love how many little jobs you're getting through at the minute, very inspiring!4

I feel like I’m alternately cracking a whip and dangling a carrot (or maybe not a carrot bearing in mind MrEH’s view of those!) but we are getting things done. He knows what the plan is, and he’s not complaining, which is a good start!Pizza dough is due to finish any second, and the rolls for the week are out and cooling - I put mushrooms in to roast while the rolls were cooking ready for pizza topping - there will be pepperoni and bacon too. 😁 Oh and we’ve also cleaned the hall bookcase down, got rid of a few ore oddments that had appeared there, tidied the medicine basket and sorted out our medical/first aid kit that we take out and about/away with us too.And now that is IT for tonight - I’m going to make the pizzas, then we will be sitting down in front of a film! Might even have a beer…!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Coming out of lurkdom to recommend beetroot chips or roast beetroot. I think you must’ve had the Oddbox I tried a couple of weeks ago, as mine arrived overnight. Wasn’t impressed to be honest.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)4

Love roasted beetroot 😀3

I love it roasted too RS, and Mrs P beetroot brownies are amazing - we usually use a Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall recipe!SA beetroot crisps are also a decent shout - as for Oddbox, yep, spot on! We love our box I must admit - there’s been a couple of occasions where the “oddness” has caused an issue (potatoes too big for using in one go was a classic!) but generally speaking we’ve been really pleased with them. I particularly like the fact that you know pretty much what you’re getting a few days ahead as I can meal plan everything in pretty well.Cheery - I agree completely, there needs to be some reward for “getting stuff done” doesn’t there!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡
