Sainsburys electricity kept taking direct debits after the account was closed

I switched gas + elec from Sainsburys where I was paying £70 a month. A couple of months later I realised some payment being taken from British gas for £21.
After a lot of stress and a lot of time investigating all my British Gas previous accounts, I discovered that Sainsburys electricity cancelled my electricity but carried on taking gas payments using British Gas name.
A call to my current supplier ((Co-op) and they checked the national database: the Co-op had my gas account since May and I was paying them for it as well. Sainsburys had no right to the payments they took via direct debit
Sainsburys electricity has apologised for taking direct debit after the account was closed, they offered me £25 in compensation as well as a refund for all the payments they've taken and asked me to let them know if I thought that was enough but I have no idea how much I should be getting? Any advice would be highly appreciated!
I've read the Energy mis-selling guide and I can see a lot of people getting £165+ compensation but none of them sound like mine, I can't find anywhere a similar problem to mine. Any idea how much compensation I should be entitled? Any idea where to find this?

If it were me, I would accept their offer of return of all extra DD payments they took plus thier offered compensation.
I would also insist on a written confirmation that the account has been settled in full and that there will be no further demands for payments in relation to the closed account for either gas or electricity.0 -

I agree. Any compensation is usually a token amount and seldom reflects the hassle you went through getting the problem resolved. If you took your complaint to the Ombudsman, you're unlikely to get much, if any, more.0
