Hi all
Is it legal to have a card at say another address. I have one at my mums which is to stop me from abusing it as I have had debts in the past but I have learnt from my mistakes.
But someone at work says they have to be at your own address, as something under the terms and conditions state this,? any advice appreciated
thx

There's nothing illegal about having your card address at your mothers, assuming you have easy and frequent access for post and can be contacted there.
However if you live somewhere else and have other financial dealings based there, and may be on the electoral role or show you live at another address it can create complications.
Nothing illegal but inconsistencies and anomalies may affect your credit file and your ability to obtain credit. In extreme cases it could lead to a cifas marker and lead to closure of accounts but that is unlikely in most instances.0 -
No you can have it to different address if you want to0

I suppose technically it is no longer in your possession if you have given it to someone else to take care of - I'm sure I saw this in the terms of a previous card I had. I don't know which card you have, but looking at my current Barclaycard T+Cs, it says:You must always keep your card and its details safe, and not allow anyone else to use them.I can't see any problem physically leaving a card at your mother's address. The CC might try and hold you responsible if your mother used it, but they would struggle. If it was stolen, you might not know as quickly as you would if you were keeping it - but again, I can't see the CC company holding you responsible for this.
By the way for anyone misreading the question (which I did first time around): it's a fraud if you apply for a card giving someone else's address - even if it's your mother's.
So I can't see an issue!0
