She has to attend an assement interview every two years where they make a decision wether or not to continue paying her the severe disability premium and the other benefits she get for ill health.

She just had her latest a assement in June 2016. That's the 3rd one she's had in just over 6 years.

I always accompany her but they take in the interview room alone and brig her back to me. That's the only jnteraction we have anyone.

The reason for her receiving severe disability premium is because they deem that her needs are serious enough for her to pay an outside career to come and look after her

    Woah, woah ,woah.

Rather than worrying about housing points are you not more bothered about the clear lack of care for your mother?

    Bloody hell.

    Good answer. :)
Don't let it put you off using the forum, there is sensible advice to be had here.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.
  • Some people don't understand the strain and emotional impact it can have on a mother of two young children to be spending a lot of time caring for a loved one. Not everyone is small minded so I havnt been scared away just yet ha :)

    No. You missed my point.

Why would you allow them to take your mother away for an interview ?

I haven't judged you at all, i'd never be in a position to do so. But you need to start asking more of the care services.

Is she providing the right care?
    Is she providing sufficient care?
Is she providing care that would be better provided by social services or professionals?
Is she providing care that would be unnecessary if small adaptations were made to the property?

    Again, yes i get that.

My point is i wouldn't be accepting the level of care from the "authorities".

And i certainly wouldn't let my vunerable mother be interviewed on her own.

It's clear the OP is having their life majorly disrupted by offering this unpaid care. That can't be good for them or their mother.

Edit: Just seen it is paid, albeit a paltry sum. My point stands.

OP - can your Mum's GP practice help - perhaps the practise nurse could help with a care plan?
