IE11 problem

works ok until you open a second tab , upon closing the first tab IE freezes up , Alt+ctl+del task manager shows the 2 tabs , ir: this site and the other (ie: bbc (or other) without its icon as if its only half closed it , kill both and reopen IE , works ok until 2 tabs ,,,,,,,,,,,,,

    IE11 does seem to be getting flakier these days. I had a problem with pdf files not displaying in the browser and whilst I realise it's a very different problem to yours, clearing the cache and restarting IE solved the issue. Worth a try.

    thanks , this has been happening for a few weeks , I have cleared the cashe , checked for any oddball changes and checked for weird or unusual addons , checked google but cannot seem to find this fault

    There is a known issue with Avast and multiple tabs in IE11.
    Do you use avast ?


    Have you tried resetting IE through the advanced menu ?

    thanks andy , I did spot that link , going back to win 8 days on google


    win 10 64 bit professional with default win defender , the only adjustment to the default settings , is smartfilter deletion , as it was causing me problems

    And it still does it after re-setting IE ??


    How about ie with no addons ??

    no major changes from 12mths ago , but has happened recently

    Have you reset IE? Always worth a go once you have tried the obvious things. Check the Advanced tab in Internet Settings.

    ie has been reset to default several times , and cookies and files deleted (several times)
