hi, i purchased an mp3 player from amazon which in the past 6 months has broken and under their warranty, i asked the company that makes these for a replacement or the item to be fixed, as i could only get a refund from amazon. they have looked at my video and confirmed that it is broken, and have asked me to purchase a new one, send them the order number and they will refund the old order.
the old order price was on offer at £12, the new one i have had to buy has gone back up to £17.
so my question is this: do i have the right to have the price of a new one refunded to me?
thank you.

As you only paid £12 for it, I think the short answer is no.0

The manufacturer has no liability to you, other than as conferred under the terms applicable to any warranty they offer. Your legal rights are with the seller.
In the situation you describe, both the seller and manufacturer are being more than fair by offering (what amounts to) a refund.
Look at it the other way ... you've had 6 months usage of it for £5.
Some battles are worth fighting - this isn't one of them.0 -
actually it started to go wrong not long after purchasing!
so if this was with the seller would i then be in my legal rights to have had the new price? i ask this because once our value tesco toaster set alight, went back to get it replaced under 1 yr guarantee, price had gone up and we had to pay the difference.
will be good to know for future.
thank you.0 -
No you have no rights to anything other than the price you paid.0
