bifold, origin or ukbifold

Options
hi

I am in a bit of a quandary over some new bifolds for an extension I am torn between origin who from what I have read are one of the market leaders and would give me a 20yr guarantee and a company who seem to be reputable and who offer a 10 year guarantee (called UKBifold)

Does anyone have any experience, advice words of wisdom?

thanks v much

  • I'm having new windows and a French door installed by ukbifold next week. Everyone I have dealt with there - customer services, surveyor, installation team - have been fantastic. All the information they have given me has been realistic and reliable. They use profiles by Reynaers which are one of the main manufacturers and their price was definitely the most competitive of the ones I looked at including Origin.

I have never bought any of their products but I was looking into the bay window bifolds that Origin do. One of their reps helped me out immensely with help and advice knowing full well it was only speculative at the time so I can't fault their customer service.

My advice would be get the company who makes them to install them rather than your builder, so that they can come back to adjust them. Bifolds are notorious for problems and to be honest I’d consider other options if I could go back.

I would avoid ukbifold. They installed mine, all I can say is good luck if you have any problems with the doors

Oh dear, now you've worried me. Can you elaborate?

3 out of 4 of the glazed units in the doors were badly marked inside. I sent them pictures, they said it was caused by the blinds. It was nothing to do with the blinds.
They finally sent some one around who agreed the units needed replacing. They then just said they won't replace them... the doors were less than a year old.
I ended up threatening them with claiming my money back on my credit card. After months I had to contact the company who made the double glazed units and they sent someone out to have a look. They agreed they were faulty and replaced all three.
I will try to find pics of the units which they wouldn't replace..

    John..
