ESA(C) advice please

  • If you, or someone on your behalf, calls the DWP then they will be able to tell you, a) if you are to be reviewed, and b) if so, when.

    And do not fret ; if your conditions are the same as previous, and (if) you are reviewed then they may well just do a paper based review and not call you in for a medical.

    To be honest, it's highly unlikely that anybody from DWP would be able to answer (b). Although assessment may be due according the the ESA system, staff there have no control over when people are actually called for assessment / reassessment. That is down to the company undertaking that role in the area.
    In the early days of ESA it was possible for staff to call ATOS (who did the work then) to chase or prioritise assessments. It quickly got to the situation where so many calls were being made to prioritise the system was falling apart. It is now very difficult indeed to speed up assessment except where a Conts claim is reaching the 365 day entitlement and the assessment still hasn't been done.
