House rewire query

We had our house rewired last year which cost £6600. We've since had a problem with our patio lights and the electrician is now saying that this work is outside the scope of the rewire and is chargeable. However, the electricians did work on these lights during the rewire and these lights were mentioned in the electrical safety report he carried out before the rewire. There is also no mention of these lights being excluded in the quote he provided. Can anyone offer advice on what to do. Thanks!

I guess what I'm asking is should this work have been done as part of the rewire?0

It's impossible to know without knowing exactly what the electrician did to the lights during the rewire, and what's causing the issue now.
It's entirely possible it's something like a junction box they didn't touch - ask them for the specifics and I'm sure they'll explain.0 -
I would say it depends on how they are wired. Are the lights wired in at the consumer unit or is there an external or even internal socket for them?
If they are part of the consumer unit then I would say you had a case, if they are plugged or wired into a connection somewhere else then if there is power to the connection I would say no.0
