and I have made our New Year's Resolution.
We thought the Pilgrimers might like to make it their resolution too0 -
A very happy and healthy new year to all in the Greying household and all pilgrims. The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)0

Much health and happiness (and yummy food) to all. Fantabulous wishes for this New Year to everyone who is kind enough to wander through my little online 'home'.
Upsidedown Bear - I'm not convinced that it is possible for us to be more awesome - we're pretty, blooming, darn brilliant on the QTBut it's worth a punt......
:D
We've been pretty busy, alternating between caring for BG and chores. We're trying to fit a quart into a pint pot, as ever. Today's focus has definitely been, 'what can go?'. Alot it seems
I didn't see in the NY. I was asleep.
I think that I may have heard fireworks, but I didn't fully wake until after 2am, when BG stirred, and it was all quiet again then. Last night, we watched Rick Stein's final long weekend prog from Sicily, then the Alan Bennett diaries (saw the Lady in the Van in real-time), then went to bed!
I've a NY greetings message to respond to by e-mail, then I best get to more sorting. Couldn't be doing with a headache today, so glad I didn't party it up last night, anyway

Happy New Year GP & family and friends.
Your diary is an inspiration GP, and at a time of year when we tend to review and re-evaluate I think I need to learn some lessons from you about gratitude and acceptance. And putting more effort into my cooking!0 -
Greying - I have a fitbit one. Love it! It's the one that you clip onto your waistband or pocket rather than the wristband one. It syncs with your app (phone, pc, tablet, laptop, wherever...) and you are the one who says whether you were doing exercise other than walking. It has a timer, so if you go for a run, then it records the time + steps, but you edit it to say you was flying down the road in yer lycra. I thoroughly recommend it! Dh got himself a mii-fit (sp?) That he wears on his wrist. We reckon it is much less sensitive than mine, and it also has fewer functions. It did cost quite a bit less than mine, but I think mine was worth the money.
Everyone will have their opinion on fitbit or suchlike, so feel free to ignore my two penneth. Any gizmo that makes you more active is good, and knowing how far you've gone is encouraging.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -

Had a look at this week's Mr L offerings - looks like lemons & mushrooms will make it home this week - regular(ish) purchases but at bargainous prices - there are also red onions & avocadoes it the pick-4 mix but neither are items we buy on a regular basis, so off the list this frugal January!
Today's from the stores dinner will be some sort of top-crust pot pie - We have leeks, shrooms & 'rubberized' chook waiting to be used! OH is in the process of g00gling some instructions! Good evening :hello:
I hope that your Bank Holiday went well, whether you were working, entertaining, recovering, travelling or just plain being.......
We had a bit of a mix of chores, socialising and wandering off to see how far it was (just far enough). We bought Baby Greying a toy box, so that they can learn how good it is to be tidy and organised....... :rotfl: We had a look around a very, very expensive outdoorsy type shop and lusted after the 'yomping' baby carriers in thereAnd we bumped into the little old lady from across the way who pressed a cash gift into Baby Greying's little palm, and said, 'for your savings account.' People are so kind
When we got home, we transferred BG's toys into the box, using an ice-cream tub for the smaller toys to sit on top. The icecream tub lid was momentarily put on the floor...... and yes, you are ahead of me..... Baby Greying played with that lid for the next hour. Picking it up, discarding it, turning it around, shaking it, stroking it, pushing it along the floor, pulling it along the floor.......

rtandon - would you kindly give a squoze and a cwtch to your darlin' OH, and let him know that tonight, for us tea, he inspired meIt's been a funny couple of days and we've had some worries to contend with, and although I know that it is Monday, I had in my mind, 'oh, soup for tea - i'll use up some of the veggie mountain out of the fridge'.
And then I read your post.
And it made me ponder about how we - as humans - get into routine with things, and are apt to 'do things as we've always done them'. Well, had I been making the veggie soup the way that I had intended, then it most likely would have been heavy on the root veg, very nice, but....... As it was, I thought, 'what happens if I goggle vegetable soup?'
As it turns out, I come across a recipe for Mushroom Soup with Winter vegetables, and I go on to make it my own, with what I have available. I didn't follow the recipe instructions, but I did use the ingredients as a template, substituting where necessary. I used red onion, because I had some (mrL), I used the remaining half punnet of mushrooms (mrL), I used a glug of leftover red wine, put in some rehydrated dried mushrooms, omitted the celery because I had none, used ordinary garlic which was chopped finely, used sweet potato in place of butternut squash and ran some skyr through it all at the end to make it slightly creamy. I also threw in some spelt (par cooked first, and finished off in the soup) to add 'heft', used some bouillon powder and threw in some chopped up green beans at the end for colour. I didn't think to take a pic, as the camera is definitely on its last legs and is more frustrating to use that ever. But it was a nice soup, which, in this case, used up things that I already had. Win-win. A keeper of a recipe.
So, pondering on things, gets you to some good places
Today I am grateful for these 3 things;
kind and generous people - especially those who extend generosity despite their own problems.
that our worries have somewhat disipated
for the internet
Ta for popping in, reading and making me think. Always valued and appreciated. By me. Thank you.
