  • Good Evening :hello:

It has been a long, but enjoyable day today.

We have hooked up with relations, honoured the ancestors and eaten lunch politely at a table, with napkins and a 'growed up' fork :D All in all, a nice time was had, and as we were treated to lunch, it counts as a nsd :j

I just spent some time whilst DH was putting BG to bed emailing a chum and promptly managed to lose it :( Not really sure what went wrong, but it was a nice newsy version :( So I wrote it out again - but had to keep it brief this time - which is not my forte :( But I'm beginning to flag and need to go to bed.

Tea was sandwiches for those 'wot lunched' and baked tatties, cheese omlette and beans for those that never.

Naturally, I have not done any crafting :( But I did distribute christmas cards, saving postage :money::D

In some ways today has been a funny day - from a seasonal perspective - as we have been to places of (relative) quiet with little or no decoration, and yet we have seen some nice decorations and on our return journey home, which was at dusk, lights and decorated trees were beginning to come into their own. And I've not heard so much as a note of Christmas (pop) music all day...... Actually quite a nice 'breather' or 'respite' from the 'noise' of Christmas - it really has only just hit me. Totally unintentional, of course, but actually very welcome :D

Right, well, I'd better get off here and go to bed. In a few hours it will be time to start all over again......

    Today I am very grateful for these 3 things;

taking the opportunity to do something 'different' with our day

BG's good behaviour in unfamiliar environments

    Ta for popping in. Appreciated.

  • Good Morning :hello:

    Here we go again :D

Right, I've already had a brainwave this morning :D Go me! :rotfl: A kindly relative gave some cash to BG yesterday to 'get something'. Normally, we've been squirrelling £'s and pennies away for BG, but I have just thought of a tangible 'thing' that BG needs - looked it up, the item is on sale and the gift money covers the cost perfectly! Was obviously meant to be :D And we will be able to write a nice thank you letter with a picture of BG using said item - win all round! :D

I think I was rather hoping to have all my Christmas cards ready for posting today :o T'ain't gonna happen :o But I could have more prepped ready for signing by the end of the day - so that is my task and I choose to accept it! :D The cards are all bought and paid for, as are the stamps, so it really is just a case of me needing to shift-a-tail-feather on the matter!

I need to get a few bits and bobs, as I will have to enter the world of retail to get the item ^ mentioned for BG. Hopefully if i go early-ish, it won't be too manic.

Still don't have a meal plan - for this week, next week, or anytime in December! :o I'm of no help to myself, am I? Meal-planning helps cut costs! Get to it Greying!

Right, I've drained my coffee cup, so I best get moving and sorted.

    Ta for popping in. Appreciated.

Ooh, I am super impressed with your brainwave before 6.30am! :j I confess I am more about brain fog here this morning - woke up in the middle of the night with a raging sore throat and have called in sick (extremely rare for me) and feeling very sorry for myself!

My cards are sat in an unopened pile on the table... Maybe if I get a bit of energy later I'll write some... but I haven't bought stamps - or, in fact, most of my Christmas presents... Perhaps a bit of online shopping is in order as I certainly won't be leaving the house today.

Will think of you and be inspired though! :j Have a jolly day :)
  • Sounds like a lovely day yesterday.

Hope today is a good one too and you get done what you need

  • Get well dearest Cheery! I'm finding that I'm making progress on some things, but others are being delayed or falling by the wayside. Some won't matter - but the creation of several things yet needs to happen, and as one is a gift........I'd better give myself a kick up the.... gosh, we've been here before, haven't we??? :rotfl:

WannabeFree - thank you for your kind wishes. It means mucho - ta :D Keep on keeping on :)

Well, I pootled to the shops. Was surprised (but delighted IYSWIM) that Sainsbos was quite quiet - as in lack of customers and NO christmas music blaring out - BRAVO! sainsbo's :T. There was only one couple that were clearly on a 'mission' to gather Christmas grub type stuff and were a little bit...... assertive?? with their trolley 'driving'. But apart from that, it was all fine, and I must say, the shop does keep very nice customer loos :T I do have to smirk (most unattractive quality) at their descriptions of things. I spotted quite a nice cauliflower for 90p in their 'baysics' range. But I didn't buy it. Oh no I never. What I purchased was a Sainsbo's Baysics 'Wholehead' cauliflower for 90p. Oh yes I did :rotfl: I mean, who on earth deemed it a good idea that the customer required to be informed what they were actually buying........ :rotfl: I hope the contender for the 'most over-described' fresh produce item tastes as good as it's title is long! :rotfl:

I picked up the item for BG from Rgoose, which was a quiet as the grave, with possibly more staff than customers. And popped into tk macks for a look. But a quick peek revealed I'd probably been lucky to drop on what I was looking for t'other week, for the price I wanted to pay. And I was saddened to see several people - of perhaps parental or Aunt/Uncle age, trailing up and down the toy aisles with 'rabbit stuck in the headlight' expressions. Whilst I'm sure that will probably be me in a couple of years, I can't help pondering why we put ourselves through all this stress :( It just makes me so sad.

Right, I've now got to wander off in the other direction and do a bit more gathering of stuff. I'll have no shoe leather left at this rate!

    Ta for popping in. Appreciated.

  • Good Evening :hello:

Thank you rtandon - that is a good-news story for sure! Whilst I will freely admit, there are hundreds and thousands of 'deserving' charities, and we must feel comfortable in supporting those which mean most to us/our heart, I am pleased that someone has taken the time to direct their attention, and not insignificant resources, to this particular charity. It says quite clearly that the donor checked what was most required and donated that as their order - that is what is the clincher for me. The person didn't just flash their cash - they thought about what they were contributing to :T

Tea was pasta with tomato sauce with mushrooms, peppers and olives in it. The mushies were YS'd - although I did also get some baysics ones from sainsbo's today - they may be used for pizza. I also got some unwaxed lemons from mrS today - YS'd to 69p. As that is 20p cheaper than HB waxed ones, I got some :D

'I dun it'. Stealing a phrase from BG there - to announce that I have, yes, I have...... written and addressed our Christmas cards. I've signed 'em, BG has signed 'em.... only DH to go now.

    Wish me luck.....

I'm hopeful we can get them in the post box tomorrow - St Lucia's day. It'll be a candle on the advent calendar, as she was the bringer of light.

    Today I am grateful for these 3 things;

    A nice e-mail from a chum, giving me a 'big-up' :D

getting what I needed for BG - from idea to execution of the plan in less than 4 hours :T

    Cheerful shop staff :D

Ta for popping by and joining in. Appreciated. Greatly. By me.
