You could always just admit you were wrong and apologise?
Admit what ?It DOES do exactly the same job for me as my hp envy. I use both for excel spreadsheets for my accounts and expenses, word docs, surfing, watching the odd movie on, sending and receiving emails on, etc.
You've implied by association that a D620 is good enough, it's not. All you have gone on about is my envy and my D620 and some vague reference to i3,i5 or i7.

Where? I said it was good enough for what i needed it for, not once did i say it was good enough for what the O/P wanted it for (given he has x10 the budget of what bought this). Buy the best you can with your budget - which we're both in agreement is a recent used business laptop.
For the hard of thinking such as yourself, I've extracted SOME of my quotes where i recommended a recent ex-business machine, because you seem to be purposely ignoring them all to try to "win" an argument on the internet with a stranger
I'd be aiming for a good, used ex business laptop by Dell or HP. There are loads on ebay and i'd have thought (without checking) and i7 is within scope.
SSDs are a doddle to fit, so maybe budget £50 for a 256GB one.
For info, my "most used" laptop is a 10 year old Dell D620 Core2Duo that I've installed Windows 10 on
A more modern variant (of that) with an i5 or i7 for around £150 and £50 for your SSD and you're away.
£150-£200 will buy you a very well presented recent business spec laptop
A lot of businesses replace their laptops @ 3 years old, when the warranty expires. An easy bargain to be had there, as they normally give them away to recycling companies.
No one suggested the op got a d620, it was merely an example of how a ten year old business laptop is still going strong.

Why on earth would you have draw(er)s full of them? What would you be keeping them for??? Are they your guilty pleasure :rotfl:
Unless of course you're talking tosh for the sake of it. Again.0 -

You're not very good at that either then if you've drawers full of them
Its called "fit for purpose" by the way.
The D620 does everything i need of it, including me not caring too much about it if it gets dropped or stolen. I leave it in a sports bag over the weekend in the office. Wouldnt do that with an HP Envy or something more recent.0 -

All about you again, I me.
My Alienware, blah blah. I don't care for your Office comings and goings and neither does the OP who requires one machine for £200 that will suit a student that isn't either an Alienware, Envy or an Austin 7.Science isn't exact, it's only confidence within limits.0 -

You suggested i was a "mug" for buying one. I merely responded that it was completely fit for purpose.
Where did i mention Alienware machines on this thread?
Have you been trawling through my old posts to find reasons to be offended? :rotfl:
Oh and I never said an Envy or Alienware were appropriate for the O/P.
As i said, we're in agreement as to what the O/P should do, so your continued trying to start an argument and be offended is frankly bizarre.0 -

And i say again, where did i mention alienware on this thread?
That Post was hacked together by bsod after trawling through 18 months of my posts to find three separate quotes.
I'd recommend one though, if thats your bag, though i didnt keep it long as i'm not as big into gaming as i thought i might be.0
