I have a main job on tax code 1048LCUMU - and was doing some other work for the same employer on a temp contract 1100LCUMU - any idea what the difference is?
I now have a new perm contract for same employer for what was the temp work, and this month they made an error and taxed the whole lot under BR  (on 2 payslips). They said they'll fix that and it'll be rectified next month.
I get that BR is no allowance, but is there much diff between 1048L and 1100L? I shall be paid separately for the two jobs, just trying to work out what I should be paid, and under which code!
Many thanks for any help.

Ah, 1048L may be an older tax code from earlier payslip....0

1100LCUMU is highly likely to mean you have been building up a nice tax debt.
BR seems far more likely to be correct for a second income (could be too much if you have low income from main job but equally may not be enough if you are a higher earner at main job)
Does your employer know what they are doing? How can they "fix it", if HMRC have told them to use BR (which is likely to be correct) then on what grounds would they change this instruction.
A more helpful response can only be forthcoming if you provided actual details from latest payslip for main job and temp contract.
Have you left main job and started new main job (what you refer to as new perm contract) or do you still have the main job. Would help if you could be clearer in exactly what has happened0 -
1100L CUML is the standard tax code for this year.
If you have a second job then it would be normal to have 1100L in one job and BR in the other. However it would depend on your income from each job as to what code is most appropriate.0 -
have the jobs being serial or have you had more than one at a time or have more than one been paid in the same pay period?0

So main job same - but this month (salaries were outsourced to new company, many probs with paying my colleagues this month) my new perm role was added, and taxed at BR.
2 payslips - main and new session both BR. It's that they taxed main job also at BR which is usually 1100LCUMU so I paid double tax. The "fix" they talked about was manually entering my tax code. It's NHS so usually all is well. Teething issues at new salaries company it seems.
My main job takes me over the 11000 allowance, but all earnings are within the 20% tax rate band - so usually having the same tax code or BR for the temp work (which is now perm) didn't make any difference. I now know where I am - thanks for your attempts to help!0
