Parking Charge for not parking in marked bay or space

Options
Hi Folks,

I have read the stuff and some posts but I have not got a parking charge for not paying. So I am a little confused!

I parked at a very well known large university, I paid the £6 for the day and left before my time was up.

I did not have a notice on my windscreen, but yesterday I received a letter from UKPC saying

Notice to keeper,

your vehicle was recorded on our clients private property in breach of the following terms and conditions of parking:

not parked correctly within the markings of the bay or space.

i have gone on line and there is pictures of my car and several others parked with a ticket stuck to my windscreen ( I have no idea who removed this) and other cars parked in the car park and also a poor photo of a small sign with the charges on and some small print.

Now I have called the university to complain, the lady was not in but I have a name who is in charge of the parking and will call back to speak to her.

the issue is that on the day and still on going is the fact that the uni is having a lot of building work and the carpark was full of building materials, fenced off areas and a lot of cars parked where they could but in a sensible manor.

So after all that information, what do i do to appeal this, as I did pay and there was no other choice but to park where you could as half the car park is blocked and I was told by security that I had to park in there?

any help gratefully received. I will now be off to do more research.

Keep pressing for the landowner (Uni) to cancel this drivel. Not by phone, do this in writing or email.

And as for the appeal, you must have missed the standard BPA firm appeal in blue writing in 'NEWBIES PLEASE READ THESE FAQS FIRST'. It is all you need to get to a POPLA code, ignoring any begging letter asking for the driver's details.

Send the appeal when suggested in the sticky thread (day 26, online to UKPC).

  • I did see those threads and read them and saw that reply, i guess because I paid and the thread is about people getting done on time over or not seeing signs that I was confused.

I went to the university to do some work so I will be contacting the head of the dept. to ask for the email addresses etc. as I only got this yesterday evening, I tried phoning today to see what I could find out and will keep trying.

    Thanks for your quick response.

That thread isn't about any specific contravention, it covers all situations including people who paid a tariff. :)

    Wait till day 26.
