credit file repair

Hi guys i need a bit advice basically my situation is i owe 16550 approximately i have an account with checkmyfile.com and my credit scores are around 490. The issue is i have a hell of a lot of small debts and 4 debts that are around 1500-2000 plus each then i have one thsts 5500.

Step change are paying a lot off my larger debts but my smaller ones aint shifting i must have a dozen or so debts that are each anywhere from 45 upto nearer 1000

Sorry i will get too the point is it worth me managing this my self? And say paying 20 quid each a month too the larger debts, then hammering say these smaller ones. Then once the smaller ones are gone pay larger equal amounts too the bigger debts.

It is just my thoughts are the longer these are outstanding on my file in default etc my credit rating and file are not gunna improve. Even though i am on a debt management only 2-3 out of all debts on my credit file show as on an arrangement, the rest are all in default.

Bar pounds too pocket and lowell and the larger debts most of these are just getting 5-10 a month.

Well good news is your score/rating isn't seen by lenders. In any case you will no doubt be rated differently from 1 agency to another. Get your report from the agencies eg Noddle, experian and Clearscore.
  • I have my scores and files from check my file.com i dont trust noddle and clear score the information is not accurate.

If they are in default, then that is basically a pretty trashed credit file for 6 years from the initial default.

However, defaults account are always removed complete from your credit file 6 years from the initial recorded default date, even if not paid off by that time, so you have a set point where their effect will vanish.

Make sure interest stays frozen on your debts. Otherwise it would be best to focus on paying off any debts where interest is being added first, so that you don’t pay more overall.
