any advice please
As a surprise birthday gift wanting to book CheltenhamGold Cup. Family (with young children) want to join us also. so looking for a holiday park within a couple of hours drive from Cheltenham that is open mid March for a week
maybe a park with at least either restaurant and pub on site or close by any thing extra would be a bonus
we live North East so would be better for us if it wasn't south
of Cheltenham
looked up Centre Park but a bit expensive for 2 lodges !
even toyed with the idea of a narrow boat but could be a bit nippy that time of year !
any other suggestions gratefully received

Could you maybe look at a budget hotel like a Travelodge or Premier Inn on the way home. Any reasonably priced hotel near the race course will be booked up already. Holiday Parks are unlikely to be open. Maybe somewhere like Birmingham where Travel Lodge family rooms start from £28 on 17/3/17? Premier Inn rooms are a similar price and probably a bit nicer. At both children eat the buffet breakfast free with paying adults. If you do a search there is Chipping Norton Premier Inn for £39 a night and it about 50 mins drive from the race course. Redditch West £29.50 and 1 hours drive. We have stayed at the Premier Inn Rugby just off the M6 and it was ok with a pub next door and big Tescos, Pizza Hut etc 2 mins walk. It is £29.50 for the night you want.
Check out reviews for the various hotels on on Tripadvisor.
Sorry just realised you want a week away. Maybe you could stay at various hotels near places with things to do.0 -
thanks susancs
not wanting to stay a week in hotels not with 3 young children, wanting the freedom of a static or lodge with play area for children hopefully, where they can run around and let off some steam.
I have stayed in many Premiers and agree they are decent and good value but not wanting to stay in them for a week, there will be 10 of us. but not all will go to the races
I realise Cheltenham will be booked up so looking for somewhere a few hours drive away.0 -
Hoseasons might be worth a look, they cover a lot of parks.0

We've stayed at Cotswold water park during gold cup week with similar plans only some went to the races . Nice place just outside Cirencester .Prices were good booked privately . decent stay and area . was a few years ago so details are skechy.

Thanks Rolandtgeroadie, I had already found a couple of sites with Hoseasons that are a possibility, they seem very quiet but enroute from where we live to Cheltenham0 -
Take a look at cottages, you're low season so looks a decent price. Shropshire or Derbyshire., I looked at Sykes but you there are others.Life is like a bath, the longer you are in it the more wrinkly you become.0

My sister and family had a log cabin holiday with Forest Holidays in March last year and said it was good. They stayed in Gloucester. Might be worth a look.0
