OP your parents are being taken for a ride, get a few other local firms and get a quote.

    Completely agree!!

We move tomorrow and I have packed everything myself over the past 2 months - it was great as it allowed me to have a good sort through stuff/baby clothes etc.

We have hired a van and are moving into mums until new house is ready. Boxes have been provided by family members.

All in all, the move (van hire for 24hours) is costing us £60 but we had £57 credit paid back from welsh water, so a total of £3 :T:T

    Totally moneysaving!

Have you spoken with them about allowing the company to pack for them? It would be sooooo much easier I'm sure. You could also use the quotes to try and negotiate a better deal. That quoted price sounds insane!
  • That's an outrageous quote. Get at least two more. We moved a three bed house and full garage contents ten miles with an overnight storage option for half that two years ago.

we moved three weeks ago - full packing service - three bed bungalow to a three bed town house 20 miles away - full breakdown and reassembly service. just shy of 1K (we saved for it as our 'house warming present') as moving ourselves with a hired van nearly killed us last time.

I was worth every single penny!

are moving to another (even tinier) ground floor property about 20 minutes away.

Still ties up the crew and van up for the day. I moved 1.5 miles some years ago. Didn't get back with the keys to the new property until 4.30. So the removal men were literally sitting around for hours as we had vacated by 10.00.
