Hot Cup vs Kettle

I'm toying with the idea of buying a 'one cup' hot water dispenser, in a bid to try and cut down energy usage. Mainly because hubby always boils a full kettle when he wants just one cup. The one I'm looking at is £45, but I'm wondering if the expense of the unit will actually cover the cost of the electricity saved... Has anyone got one of these gadgets?

£45 is enough to boil about 2,500 kettles of water, does that help?0

To boil a full kettle of water costs about 1.5p more than a '1 cup' device.
Thus if this device costs £45 your husband will need to boil a full kettle approx. 3,000 times for the cost of the device to be covered.

Fill the kettle with only the amount you need. I use my Tassimo.0

£45?
If you're going to go for that expense, why not get a travel kettle instead - they can be found for about £5 - try Argos or one of the supermarkets or your local market - and only boil enough water for a couple of small cups or one big cup.0 -
Put the excess water in a flask.
Personally I have a 600w kettle and solar panels.4kWp, South facing, 16 x phono solar panels, Solis inverter, Lincolnshire.0
