Any coupons, which display the Tesco logo, are Tesco specific. We only accept these if the products referred to on the coupons are purchased. This is because we negotiate savings with our suppliers on the condition that these actual products will be purchased.
With regard to coupons from brand name manufacturers, we are happy to accept one, even if you have not purchased the product. However, the coupon must be in date and Tesco must sell the item. If you present more than one identical coupon, then you must purchase the same number of products.
This also applies to coupons printed from the Internet. However, these will only be accepted at the discretion of the Store Manager.
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to explain our policy
I use my coupons in Waitrose, dont think they would take the dvd coupon, but always take coupons that are products stocked.
Didnt know about Asda, our Morrisons takes coupons, but again, they wont if they are internet coupons or a mature cashier.0 -
Ok so I neet to buy a copy of what coupon mazagine and read the feature on how to select a cashier:
The top tips seem to be:
1) inexperienced
2) not a jobsworth
3) present coupons with a large shop (10%)
Off to the newsagents...Seth.0 -
Dont forget:
4) Chat incessantly to cashier, become their friend, admire their nose jewellry and empathise with their lot as a cashier.
Before i get a tonguelashing about cashiers, been there, happy to take coupons if the customer was nice.0 -

Yes this seemed to work for a while with a cashier who had sensitive skin like my daughter, got quite friendly and always asked her about her skin and then she got "jobsworth" as well.
I think I have been to them all now and there are only two cashiers who dont care and will take most things. I think what I need to do is go in, check if there are any bargains and then check who is on the tills that morning. Then give up and go and try Asda instead.

I never knew Asda took coupons another moneysaving bargain.0

borntoshop wrote:There the getout clause at the "discretion of the Store manager", as our store is a large one and used for training managers this coupon policy changes from week to week. i always look for the cashier who is young and isnt as jobsworth as others.
It's just internet coupons that are accepted at the manager's discretion.
As someone else pointed out, if the coupon is in date and Tesco sells the item and it amounts to less then 10% of the shop then if they refuse to take it, ask them to ring their H.O. as it's company policy, not store policy to accept them.
I think a lot of the staff are confused, probably lack of communication by managerial staff. Still, luckily they've got us MSE'rs to put them right0 -
In the Tesco Extra in Watford, there is a sign up at every till, stating that from 26 April, they will only take money-off coupons if you have purchased the product.
I presume this must now be Company policy.0 -
Worked for me today in Tesco! cheers OP!0
