Debt collection agency after ignoring private car park notice

Options
Can I just get some quick advice on this please. I've tried to follow as much advise as possible on these threads but now unsure if I should keep on ignoring these warning letters, now I'm also getting these from the company Debt Recovery Plus.

Back in May my wife and I purchased a car park ticket which to our horror when coming back to the vehicle the ticket was on the chair and a parking notice was issued (must have blown off somehow). The car park was private and not council owned/ran.

Immediately my wife sent an email of appeal to the company that was chasing payment showing a photo of the ticket which shows that it's purchase date and time was before that of the ticket that was issued. We left it, heard nothing.

Around 6 weeks later we received a letter from the company in my wife's name... which is interesting as the vehicle is registered in my name. My wife advised that she left our address in the original correspondence. However, the letter did not advise of any acknowledgement that they received an appeal and that they advised that payment has already risen.

After some research online I read to just ignore this company and they should go away so we have and also ignored additional letters advising that the charge has risen again.

Now we've received a letter from Debt Recovery Plus asking for £160 which is comical. Again research says we should just ignore this.

What we do not want is a court letter or for the fine to get ridiculous. Shall we:
- Continue to dig our feet in and ignore
- Contact the original company and say "how did you get our contact details as it was not my wife who owns the vehicle - you obviously received our appeal but did not acknowldge or correspond"
- Pay the fine

Thanks for this everyone

Paul

    who is the parking Co

the reason for chasing your wife is that she admitted to being the driver , so they have not bothered with the DVLA

Debt Recovery Plus (and Zenith) daft threatograms have been done to death on parking forums where we've laughed at them for a decade, I do hope no-one has phoned them up. Make sure your wife knows what to expect, more letters!:

Indeed - even if the PPC sued and she lost in small claims, your wife would likely pay less! Most firms never try.

Which parking firm? Some are not litigious at all.

Was this in England or Wales, or was it in Scotland?
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
