Cottage Holiday - Wales?

Hi All,
I am looking to book a cottage somewhere for half term, for myself, wife and dog (wife is teacher so no choice of time
).
Anyway, I am thinking somewhere in Wales. Thing is, I don't know Wales all that well so I would like some kind of recommendation as to where we could look. We would like it as deserted as possible, preferably near the sea or lake (dog loves swimming) where we can snuggle up with a roaring fire! You get the picture

Well I would recommend the Pembrokeshire Coast.
Great beaches and lovely countryside.
