That's my plan
Only thing is, I don't like veggies :rotfl: but I'm willing to try swapping spaghetti for courgette
I'm also plucking up the courage to try cauliflower rice
See I LOVE carbs. I could eat half a pack of pasta, all myself, in one sitting. Same as rice So I know my portion sizes are just too huge so looking to swap for the veg so I can eat the portion size I'm used to without eating so many carbs
And hence the pasta machine. I'm thinking if I have pasta, it's got to be posh pasta, home made, fiddly to make, posh fillings, a treat. Not just a big pile of carbs covered in butter and cheese used to fill a hole
I can't wait for you to say that you have a pasta machine and always use it! I don't want to be the voice of doom...it's not going to happen!
Courgette spirally stuff on the other hand...is great! It's the only way I'll eat courgette. I spirally (technical term) it up, then quickly dry fry it...just so it's hot...then add it to spaghetti sauce....I feel so healthy eating it! x0 -
I used to enjoy the family's annual trip to Lakeland (the original Windermere one) - they had all sorts of interesting gadgets, at fairly reasonable prices, and I nearly always bought something, even if it was just from the Bargain corner.
This year, in the Bargain corner, was a domestic coffee maker. £685, reduced from £985 :eek:
Just who pays that for a coffee maker? I think that may be our last visit, that is just ridiculous.I want my sun-drenched, wind-swept Ingrid Bergman kiss, Not in the next life, I want it in this, I want it in this
Use your imagination, or you can borrow mine!0 -
Most used and couldn't do without - slow cooker and George foreman.
Keep but use less than once a week - stick blender, mixer. microwave, easyio maker
Really should get rid of - Bread maker, food processor (should/could use this more but its too much faff to get out assemble and wash up), smoothie maker, deep fat fryer. soda stream.
Thats quite a list I don't use  frightening when you see it written down.0 -
I was given a breadmaker 18 months ago (my mother had not used it in 10 years) and I thought it would be useful to have. I cleaned it and made a loaf in it to check it was still in working order .. it has not been out of the cupboard since.
However today I have rediscovered my slow cookers (I have 2 small ones) I bought one year's ago when it was on offer in the co-op for £5 and never used it, I recieved the other as a wedding pressie, I have made a batch of soup in one and veggie chilli in the other.. not done that in a while.
My sandwich toaster has not been used in about 13 years but I am loathed to part with it.Dogs return to eat their vomit, just as fools repeat their foolishness. There is no more hope for a fool than for someone who says, "i am really clever!"0 -
One of those vegetable slicing machines. I don't know why I bought it.
It's not as though I eat fresh vegetables.
I have used a hairdryer for softening butter and a piece of sink pipe for rolling pastry.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -

Thanks. You've just reminded me that I really need a soda siphon! I really do need one....I will use it all of the time, I know it! Going to check ebay!0 -
Saddo here. The only electrically powered gadget I have is a stick blender, and it's going nowhere. Great for soup. I used to have every gadget on the planet, but you live and learn.
Everything else is non electric apart from the usual toaster, kettle, micro and so on. No gadgets. I can chop and so on without needing an electrical implement.
Best thing? Spatula. Brilliant for lots of things, especially scrambled eggs in a fry pan. Trust me.
Oh and toaster pockets for a GREAT ham and cheese toastie made in the toaster and no mess to clean up afterwards..0 -
Ooh, fab thread!
My breadmaker was a bit of a let down. Didn't like the bread out of it at all! That went ages ago. I also bought a nutribullet at the beginning of the year and just can't acquire a taste for smooties at all.:(
My most used possesions are my bean to cup coffee machine, my Kenwood mixer - I bought their baby brother version, the Prospero - and it's amazing. I have used it to make over 100 celebration cakes, as well as having a processor attachment and other things which have been well used too. The other thing I love it my hob to oven casserole pan. My hubby doesn't like anything out of an electric slow cooker, but my oven has a 'slow cook' function (not sure it's anything more than just a low setting, but it is great) so I just use the casserole pan in there.0 -
I shamefully admit that I really love gadgets, and have probably far too many of them. They do all get used, but sometimes only seasonally - I used the ice cream maker a fair bit this year, and the slow cooker(s) (I have a large and a small one) put in more of an appearance over autumn and winter. The dehydrator is in use at the moment (I'm currently drying home grown chillis in it) but will be put away again after the harvesting is finished.
The two things I didn't use and subsequently re-gifted to a friend were the pasta maker and spiraliser, both of which I'd not chosen for myself. Luckily neither person lives near to me so won't know I've heartlessly and ungratefully passed on their well-meaning presents UNLESS THEY READ THIS THREAD *hyperventilates*.0 -
We were given a bread maker years ago, which came and went quite quickly as the bread was awful. We bought one this year which gets used every their day.
We love our slow cooker, george f, hand blitzer, k mix.
Don't love so much the waffle maker, sausage attachment for k mix.
Oh coffee machine, beans to cup..... Best invention ever!0
